Ken Kutaragi, the Father of PlayStation, recalls being told by everyone that they would fail

Ken Kutaragi, the creator of PlayStation, faced opposition from both game-makers and Sony executives when he was developing the console three decades ago. Despite the skepticism, the PlayStation was launched in 1994 with revolutionary 3D graphics and adult-oriented titles, changing the gaming landscape. Kutaragi’s vision paid off, and the PlayStation became a global success.

Kutaragi also recalled a failed collaboration with Nintendo in the early days, which led to the birth of the PlayStation. He left Sony in 2007 after the launch of PlayStation 3, which initially struggled commercially. Now, as the future of the console market faces challenges from cloud gaming, Kutaragi is focusing on robotics and artificial intelligence through his startup.

He predicts a future where everything can be calculated by AI, with applications in various sectors beyond gaming. Kutaragi envisions a world where time and space could be computable, ultimately blurring the lines between science fiction and reality. Despite facing setbacks and challenges, Kutaragi’s innovative spirit continues to drive him towards exploring new frontiers with technology.
