Gamecock Athletics Secures Spot in Top 25 of Learfield Director’s Cup Rankings – University of South Carolina Athletics

South Carolina Gamecocks Shine in 2024-25 Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

The University of South Carolina proudly ranks 23rd in the final 2024-25 Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings, marking the university’s fifth-highest finish in the 31-year history of the awards. This achievement represents the Gamecocks’ best performance since placing 22nd in the 2018-19 academic year.

Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati credited the impressive ranking to the collective efforts of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. “I am so proud of this accomplishment and looking forward to going even higher in the future,” he stated, highlighting the teamwork behind the success.

The Gamecocks earned their standing with contributions from 15 sports, accumulating 826.75 points—only slightly shy of their record of 828.5 points from the 2001-02 season. This year, South Carolina has positioned itself firmly in the top eight percent of Division I schools nationwide, celebrating its status as the highest-ranked team in the state for the fourth consecutive year.

It has been a standout year for Gamecock Athletics, with 14 teams finishing in their respective sports’ Top 25, five of which placed in the top 10. Particularly notable was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of varsity women’s athletics, where eight of 11 women’s teams secured Top 25 finishes, including women’s basketball and equestrian each winning SEC championships.

Men’s programs also thrived, with football prominently ranking 13th nationally and marking a successful season, while other teams, such as men’s tennis and golf, made significant playoff advancements.

As the university continues to excel in athletics, the Gamecocks look forward to future seasons with aspirations of climbing even higher in the Directors’ Cup standings. The annual Learfield Directors’ Cup, established by NACDA and USA Today, measures institutional success in collegiate athletics based on NCAA Championship performances.
