D-listers Panic as Celebrity Traitors Reject Their Pleas, Insisting on Only Real Stars

The highly popular BBC show, The Traitors, is set to film a celebrity version in the New Year but will not feature any reality TV stars, despite their agents’ persistence. The show has already confirmed a star-studded cast including national treasures such as Stephen Fry, Clare Balding, and Tom Daley. Agents representing D-list clients from shows like The Only Way Is Essex and Love Island have been trying to secure spots on the show, but only bona fide celebrities and genuine household names will make the cut.

The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and set at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, divides the cast into Faithfuls and Traitors, with the latter tasked to eliminate the former to win a cash prize. The first two series of the show attracted millions of viewers, with the British Army engineer Harry Clark winning the prize in the second series.

The celebrity edition of The Traitors was announced in the summer, and casting decisions are being carefully made by Winkleman. The US version of the show included a mix of reality TV contestants and ordinary people, but the BBC’s celebrity version will only feature true stars. The show’s spokesman emphasized the importance of lies and deception in the game, urging viewers not to speculate before the game begins. The third series is set to launch early next year.
