Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Berkeley County
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – A tragic accident in Berkeley County has claimed a life, prompting an investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Master Trooper William Bennett reported that the crash occurred on May 1 at 3 p.m. on US 17 Alt, near Horseshoe Road, approximately four miles south of Moncks Corner.
The incident involved two vehicles: a 2007 Honda sedan and a 2002 Toyota Camry. The Honda was traveling north when it collided with the Toyota, which was turning left into a driveway. The Honda’s driver was unharmed, but both the driver and passenger of the Toyota were transported to Trident Medical Center for their injuries.
Sadly, on May 5, the passenger of the Toyota succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The coroner’s office has yet to release the identity of the deceased. The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, urging any witnesses to come forward.
